Magick Synopsis[]

High Magick: The power to create and to destroy; to give and just as simply to take away. Gods in their own right, the Daeva hold the power to influence the world around them in countless ways, but few are motivated enough to engage in the sort of direct involvement spoken of in the history of old worlds. The Daeva of today are content to meddle in the affairs of man and beast from afar, gifting power to their chosen servants to aid favored acolytes in carrying out their bidding. Daeva do not easily part with their power, however, as it is limited. Magick of this form requires a strong connection between mage and patron similar to worship offered to a deity. Even the simplest of spells called High Magick require a mix of prayer and ritual to be performed. The length of complexity of these is dependent on the complexity of the spell effect.

● For reference... the average spell takes upwards of 30 seconds of complete concentration on the prayer to accomplish, though there are reports of powerful spells taking an entire day to perform. During this time the caster slips into a trance like state and is unable to react to the world around them without needing to begin the prayer again. Likewise, because of the necessity of a strong bond between Patron and Practitioner, a mage may only have one patron, one bond.

The family of High Magick officially known as Prophesy Magick.
Prophesy Magick

Called 'Tarot', this is the magick of other-sight. Though the ages recall such a gift manifesting in princes and paupers both, the commonality of Deity or Daeva patronage is present in each account. It seems impossible for this subset of magick to be wielded by any individual without the aid of religious ties. It should be noted, out of character, that access to this magick type is restricted to 'use with permission only' due to info-modding capabilities. Daeva known to grant this blessing are ______, ______, ________ .

The use of this magick requires purchase via an amount of activity-awarded points (merit).
Scrying The art of scrying allows for glimpses of the past, present, or future to be gleened from a reflective surface, and has been around in one form or another since the very beginnings of magick iteself. It is often referred to as a kind of second sight, and is most effective when used as a means to watch without being seen. In this way, even far off places may be reached.
Dreaming A form of magic based almost exclusively around predictions of the future -  the art of dreaming is the most unstable and difficult to control of all the prophetic magicks. When the dreams do come, however, they offer not fragmented glimpses, but clear pictures of things that have yet to be. It is said that the clearest dreams do not illuminate a single future, but countless that might come from the branching web of decisions set out before us.
Reading Tarot cards, tea leaves, even palms hold glimpses of secrets buried too deeply in the mundane to be understood by the uninitiated eye. Like scrying, the art of reading is not limited to the events of the future. Rather, this form of magic finds its main stock and trade in the secrets of character. It can offer glimpses of the future in store, but the most proficient readers know that it can reveal more meaningful knowledge concering the heart and soul of an individual's being.

The family of High Magick officially known as Channeling Magick.
Spirit Magick
Called 'spirit magick',
The use of this magick requires purchase via an amount of activity-awarded points (merit).
Binding The second is the art of binding. Once a spirit has been summoned it must be controlled, forced to linger until it has served its purpose. By binding a summoned spirit a mage is able to exercise a level of control over the spirit. A binding ritual can be performed on spirits the mage had no part in summoning.
Communing Finally, the art of communion is the art of communicating with spirits present in the living world. Unlike simply talking with a spirit a mage practiced in the art of communion need not worry about lies or half truths. They are able to compel the spirit to answer them, truthfully and completely.

The family of High Magick officially known as Light Magick.

Light Magick

Called "white magick", it is frequently used by those who have dedicated themselves to some sort of religious order. It is seen as a highly benevolent subset of Magick used for healing the enchanted or cursed, inspiring followers and fending off darker subsets of magick such as necromancy. This family calls upon the power of purity to manipulate light or combat malevolent magicks and thus can only be used by worthy Individuals. Daeva known to grant this blessing are ______, ______, ________ .

The use of this magick requires purchase via an amount of activity-awarded points (merit).
Elemental The elemental control of light refers to the basic art of manipulating and controlling light in the immediate vicinity of the user. This applies to both natural and artificial light sources. Common implementations of this practice include the manipulation of light into a tangible force such as a shield or an offensive weapon for combat, and even healing arts.
Turn undead A kind of magic formed in direct response to the disruption in the natural recycling process of life known as necromancy. Turn Undead grants the caster the Daeva-sanctioned ability to return the undead to their proper place within the aether of the dream-weave.. Common implementations of this practice include the use of a musical instrument to open the way between life and death or a ceremonial weapon with which to cut through the weave of existence for the same purpose.
Purify Purify magick is similar in many ways to Enchanting, in that this Daeva-granted magick is able to both remove curses and enchantments placed on people/things, as well as add new enchantments. This magick is so named for it's hierophantic nature in 'cleansing' other influences and marking people/things with the magick of the caster's patron deity.
